Pochade Box Paintings
A Pochade Box is a small box used for painting on
location. The word pochade is derived from the French word "pocher",
meaning to sketch. The box is great tool for exploring composition, making
color studies, gathering references and knowledge, basically creating a visual
library of information. These sketches are exercises in capturing what I see in
front of me and about the simple pleasure of painting. In that, they are small
gems to treasure.
"A sketch has charm because of its truth - not
because it is unfinished."
